Plot Summary
Originally a collection of clips from the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, Death was created as a precursor to the re-worked ending of the series. Rebirth was intended as that reworked ending but after production overruns became only the first half of the first episode of The End of Evangelion, with some minor differences. Over time, two newer director’s cuts of Death were produced, each including new footage not seen in the series – these were called Death (True) and finally Death (True)^2. Note that despite containing clips from the series, Death (True)^2 & Rebirth should be seen after the series itself to be fully understood.
The end of the Neon Genesis Evangelion left many questions as to the fate of NERV, the Children, the Angels, and many other plot factors unanswered, unexplained, or otherwise hanging. To answer a legion of now befuddled Evangelion fans, Gainax remade the ending into a two-part movie known as Death and Rebirth which was to supersede episodes 25 and 26 of the television series, which then led to this movie, Death and Rebirth itself being recreated into part one of The End of Evangelion. It begins much in the same fashion, with the final Angel already having been defeated, and the current enemy switching to humanity itself as SEELE unleashes its own plan for the Evas and NERV… and indeed for the entire human race. What role will Shinji play in this ever-tense situation, as NERV gets chewed to pieces by SEELE’s crack commandoes? Will Gendo’s plan swallow up all of humanity? Will Hideaki Anno ever figure out how to end an anime? These questions and more will be answered in what looks to be the final installment of Evangelion. But at what price?

Note: The 2003 Renewal is a remastered version of the original End of Evangelion movie.

Encoder’s Note
Quite a while ago, someone requested me to encode Evangelion Movies [Death(true)^2] and [The End of Evangelion]. We chatted it through in the chatango, and found that these two version are most rare out of all other versions and movies of this anime. DarkAngel, who joined in the chat back then, referred me to a link that contained the only useful and best quality English version. All that chat is not very clear in mind right now, and I’m not a fan of this series. I downloaded this stuff quite a while ago and at last I get the chance to encode it. So don’t complain (I don’t remember a thing myself), enjoy the show and sorry for the delay and any inaccuracy. (I don’t even remember who requested and whom I had that chat with xD )

Plot Summary

“Rebuild of Evangelion” was originally presented as an alternate retelling of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion: the first three movies were intended to be an “alternate retelling” of the series, while the fourth and final film is promised to be an entirely new, alternate ending to the series.

In 2015, 15 years after the enormous catastrophe that killed half of the world population, another crisis has come – the unidentified invaders called “Angels” begin to attack human-kind. Any of their weapons are useless against the so-called “Absolute Terror Field”. But now human-kind had created an exception;the ultimate all-purpose humanoid weapon “Evangelion”. To operate this exception needs the minds of “Children”, 14-year-old juveniles. Shinji Ikari, the only son of the commander-in-chief of the team that administered Evangelion, is selected as the third of the “Children”…!

Plot Summary

In 2000, the “Second Impact”, a global cataclysm, destroys most of Antarctica and leads to the deaths of half of all humanity. The Impact, thought by the public to have been a high-speed meteorite impact, causes devastating tsunamis, changes in the Earth’s axial tilt (leading to global climate change), and later geopolitical unrest (including general economic distress and nuclear war). Over the next ten years, the research organization GEHIRN and its benefactor, the mysterious SEELE organization, achieve a number of impressive scientific and engineering goals, including the creation of giant humanoids known as Evangelions and the construction of Tokyo-3, a militarized civilian city located on one of the last dry sections of Japan, in preparation for the arrival of beings known as Angels.

Fifteen years later, 14-year-old Shinji Ikari is summoned to Tokyo-3 by his father Gendo Ikari, the Machiavellian commander of NERV (the paramilitary successor of GEHIRN), and coerced into becoming the pilot of Evangelion Unit-01 on the eve of an Angel attack. Shinji begins living with Captain Misato Katsuragi and is soon joined in his mission to locate and destroy the Angels by Rei Ayanami (pilot of Unit-00) and Asuka Langley Soryu (pilot of Unit-02). However, the true nature of the Angels, Rei, and the Evangelions is increasingly called into question by the conflicting conspiracies and agendas of both SEELE and NERV, and their links to the mysterious Human Instrumentality Project.
